Where did you first visit in Second Life?  Minus any welcome stuff I mean.  The first place you searched for or just stumbled in. 

I went back to the first place I visited in Second Life.  I knew it was gone, but it's still kind of sad.

Back in 2006 it was a Doctor Who area and as far as I knew it was the extent of Second Life. 

I was about as confused as I've ever been that day.  I can't really think back to 2006 (or 2009 really), but it's possible I began in some welcome area and for all I know it was full of caring help, but I know I did not stay.  Like the manuals I never read for things I own, I hit the ground running.  So what if you documentation readers have one remote for your TV, Cable, and Killer Robot.  I actually prefer having three and everyone I met as a noob in Second Life not only respected that and made no attempt to assist me, they made sure everyone in chat distance understood I intended my hair to look like that so we could all share a good laugh. 

I wish I could share that look with you, but as part of counseling I deleted all the pictures.   All that survives is one snap of my mop hair that predates my discovery of prim hair which itself gave way to my zero prim skin hair of today.  

Burning up for you baby

As you may have heard, Linden is pulling out of Burning Life in every way humanly possible.  From land to their very name.  I give you the new Burn 2.0.

Taking "life" away has been going on for a while now.  Blogs have been smacked down, then third party viewers, now events.  I have no problem with this other than it's rather comical they fuck the brand all to hell then go about protecting it.

The big hit is the regions.  Going from 20 or so Linden provided ones to what donations can swing may cut the size in half (doable) or even more (like shoving five people in a trunk and driving 2mph).

On the plus side, if you were unhappy with all that horrible censorship at SL7B, this is freedom baby.  Sweet not so free freedom.

My silly view?  For the best.  It's not fair for Linden to support one group and then turn away others (and yes I mean my many unanswered requests for Linden sponsorship of Adric Fest).

Not seeing the level of coverage of RFL I would of liked, I left a comment at Your2ndPlace seeing they were one of the few places that did give it some airtime.

If the sky does not fall, I am going to get really involved next year (writing and making silly videos this year does not count oddly enough).

Dale's Peep Show

Dale has an article on an art exhibit.  I stopped by and have to say it's fine art.

What can we say about Darrius Gothly?  Not a damn thing really.  Before yesterday I had never heard of the cat and I suspect the same can be said for 99% of the grid.  But not Hamlet Au.  No, not Hamlet.  Always in search of a good story, Hamlet reported on this young man's idea to do something or other to land prices (or something).  Before long the comments started to pile on (along with Botgirl's obligatory link whoring) and the articles followed. Prok pointed out how misguided this young man was, Botgirl said we are all rich, I pointed out what an idiot  Botgirl was, the real idiots that make Botgirl look like a Rhodes Scholar in the official forums started a thread, and a star was born.

This award is not for the idea itself.  It may be genius, it may suck, but when so many others are screaming about the end of days, the grid needs constructive ideas from everyone.  Not just from those Prok feels are as versed as her in land matters (or what is good for her business) or from those saying whatever the hell Botgirl is trying is say – everyone.

Darrius Gothly will be sent his poorly construction Addie Award and $L38 which will no doubt confuse him since he was not invited to the ceremony (which we want to thank our good friends at Corn Dog on a Stick for hosting

Hamlet has a great article today (or links to one I mean – that prick never has great articles) on a great way to stop Linden from bleeding money.  In the real world you do not pay the same for a commercial piece of land as you would residential.  The simple reason being you do not intend to make money with it.

Down the comments you see some wise cats like Little Lost Linden who makes the point land is priced way above reality.  They could of gotten that price at peak, but that time is long since gone and these dumb fuckers at Linden just fail to grasp they could have a lot less empty land if they came in line with reality.

Oh yes.  Has Bot girl/man/fraud ever posted a comment without whoring her own shitty blog?  Not that I can recall.  Look people, I post a lot of comments and one of the rules is you do not whore your own links except in the rare case.  This bitch does it time and time again without ever getting it is so fucking low rent.  Look you stupid cunt, they can click on your name if they want to get your stupid words.  To enter a link in comments is the lowest form of hack that exists.

In any case, if you follow the link, Botgirl says we can afford tier.  We are doing great (what fucking economy is this cunt living in?).  She says Linden should keep charging whatever they want and "support existing communities" which is code for support the thing I do for I am an artist.

Botgirl – fuck you.  You are what is wrong with Second Life.  You are the elitist cancer that must be cut from Second Life if we are to survive.  If you had the slightest bit of dignity you would leave now so the rest of us could continue.

Oh, do you all recall that nice young man who (allegedly)  tried to run over his landlord last week (the young man with the horns in his head)?  He has become somewhat of a celebrity and seems like a nice guy.   Guess you can't judge a book by it's cover.   Besides, for all we know she had it coming.

Debating the merits of Blue Mars with a Bluetard is a very frustrating thing at times.  If you have not gone there – do not.  If you have, you know it is no more difficult than explaining the merits of your 12 year old using his school grades, athletic skills, etc, with a parent who responds your child  is inferior in every way to the one she plans to have very soon. 

A good example is this advocate (who can also rent you some of the beaucoup BM property they invested in) who very skillfully says all these negative views lack the knowledge there is going to be a feature or service or magical spell that will change the game so much that you might as well just assume that Second Life is dead as a given and get to moving over there.  Don't have time to get into what it is or when it will be there, but this is more than enough for you see Blue Mars is for you. How much more proof could you need?

There is no reason to think this is a lie because they do not need to lie.  Any fault you find or area weaker than Second Life has a very effective standard response.  They calmly explain you are comparing a completed world with something in beta and that is just wrong.  My thing with that is you do not typically sell land or items to people in beta.  Also, "beta" is normally a test of a product you at least think is finished.  They have a list of "features" they haven't even decided yet.  When they are written and tested we can consider calling it beta, but that may need a third round of venture capital money…

But is the true judge not pudding or the proof or the poof or something.  Let us ask these nice gentlemen.
