This place is getting crowded…
I would report the death of virtual world "There" with sadness, but like me you would have no idea what the hell There is and my gentle approach would be wasted, so let's take it from another angle.
Some shitty world with no sex, lots of corporate shit, and no violence above the level of paint ball is closing. People say the corporate world does not embrace Second Life and I say good when the economy goes to shit and the world they did hold tightly is thrown to the ground as they run away in full panic mode.
In a long-winded fuck you to the world, the big There guy says it's a damn shame the world is loosing a place full of such corporate fun that is a "welcoming and comfortable place for everyone – not just gamers, not just people over 18, not just people with high end computers, and not just people on broadband". Which is exactly why Blue Mars is making a pitch to these people because slow computers and slow connections are welcome there.
I stopped by to see how the transition is working out.
Okay, in this image we see one minor issue that really isn't There transition related. That issue being if your world requires instructions just to walk, you may have some problems. As for the related issues, well… he did not stay long enough to gage how he felt.
This may be an issue since There users are likely to have shit hardware according to their leader.
Moving on, the creepy issues are raised.
Now, before all you Blue Mars fanboys go off on me, I know they are trying, but I have to wonder if recruiting developers in the welcome area is the way to go here.
And now that you are really pissed, I will say I did hear mention of a store and when I downloaded another damn city just to see it was very impressed with the three items on sale.
Pete's Dragin'
Like Peter Steindberg expressed fear of megaprims, he has hopped up on the couch and unleashed on the evil of HTML on a prim.
As Pete explains it, someone having your IP is about the same as them having a map to your home, front door key, alarm code, and a bottle of KY. Never mind the fact simply using the web makes that pretty damn public knowledge and in SL it's but a smart person away from being exposed.
As proof, he offers this tool he says can get very close to your location based on IP alone as I found myself. As you can see below, I live at an amusement park on the other side of town that was torn down two years ago.
If you have any human decency, you will not stalk me. Or do.
If someone wants your IP, they do not need shared media in SL to get it. Besides, hammering beta software for long term problems is kind of lame.
Yes, I will grant Petra, that in theory someone would know if you came in as an alt (if they had tracked your IP as your other account), but I have to ask what sort of twisted shit you people are up to that is such a fear? I am pretty much me all the time, but I am willing to see your paranoia if you can explain it to me.
IP tracking is not always an exact science anyway. I've seen companies and schools that use a proxy or firewall sticking 10,000 or more users with one real world IP.
Au goes P U
Jesus Hamlet. Are you really leader of the pack?
Just thank god I added the black bars.

That avatar in the pics looks like me…should I sue?
No, you should accept that not all men are pedos and like to see a woman with bush.
I swear, I have not seen pubes on a girl in porn since 1983.
What is wrong with our world?
Umm…Adric? I was looking at her face….where were YOU looking?
Like you even need to ask.
OMG! Lets not talk about this horrible trend of Brazilian genital waxing! It applies to men too, my friend Pete explained it, he called it a "back, sack and crack" (perhaps I quoted wrongly) It must hurt whatever it is!
Holy crap, I would never never do that to my back sack or crack!
