No joking around about this – thank you for your service to the US Adric.

Thank you ma’am. When I think about the good days at scout camp….

Learning how to tie knots, administer first aid, not being around when our scoutmaster was in boy sodomizing mood, it’s a pride filled feeling.

I don’t praise well princess. There are vets with less than two arms/legs or dead. I did nothing in comparison.

This was written specifically for a Vietnam Vet but it could apply to any serviceman/woman:

There's nothing different about the man
as he passes you on the street
a few lines have formed along his brow
and he's slower on his feet

He smiles at children as they play
frowns at tattoes on a young teen
an ordinary man you think?
but you don't know what he as seen

jungle wet
with rain
and sweat

rivers of mud
and
enemy blood

Eyes in pain
no loss
or gain

Arms held back
in
mass attack

He won't tell you what he knows
nor why it haunts his dreams
he keeps it within, this secret past
that hides behind silent screams

Jungle wet
with
rain and sweat

Rivers of mud
and
enemy blood

Eyes in pain
no loss
or gain
Arms held back
in
mass attack

Don't dare to say he never gave
what his country asked him to give
don't tell him that you hate this place
his friends died so you could live

Jungle wet
with
rain and sweat

Rivers of mud
and
enemy blood

Eyes in pain
no loss
or gain

Arms held back
in
mass attack

A flag waves in bright sunlight
By soldier right, he should be proud
But he walks on by, no salute
His patriotism is not allowed

jungle wet with rain and sweat rivers of mud and enemy blood eyes in pain no loss or gain arms held back in mass attack

And when you come to understand
The freedom he fought to keep
Perhaps it will be you my friend
That dreams the dream of soldier's sleep.

Wow. That is really moving.

I am going to turn on my printer (which my cheap ass never does given the 24.99 required for three cartridges) and print that…

No wait. I am headed to work. I will print there. Oh shit. I am late. I may work from home. I feel a cough coming on. VPN here I come.

Wait. Why the fuck am I working today? Oh…..Adric is a getting an anniversary party today…. I said I wanted that punch with 7up and ice cream. I have to go in.
