The Mystery of the Kitty

by Adric Antfarm on November 14, 2009

I don't talk to my neighbors and they understand anything more a head nod my way is wasted so it was odd that crazy lady next door dared to speak to me today….

Eggy the stray has amazing hearing.  If I go to the kitchen and she hears movement, the very loud repetitive "MEOW!!" starts until I open the door and feed her.  I've tried to stand still and trick her, but she is not that dim.

Anyway, I had just given Eggy some food when crazy lazy asks "Is that your cat?",

I say "No" and since my stray is young and impressionable I leave out the normal "Like it's any of your business, bitch".

Well, that was my mistake.  She starts rambling on and on about what a saint she is.  She tells me while Eggy comes to my back door, she has been approaching her at the front one.  She tells me she took little Eggy the stray to the vet, had it checked for worms, and got shots for it.  Wow.  I wonder if she will do my dishes.

He evil motive became clear all too soon.  She said she tried to take it in but her cat became territorial and violent.  Eggy did not respond with newcomer fear and instead of a bully situation she could of dealt with, she had a rolling cat fight.   That's my Eggy.   For the best since I know this bitch would have 40 cats if let unsupervised.

The vet finding no worms and the general good appearance and condition of Eggy is raising an issue.  Oh, and either she fixed herself or an owner paid to have her fixed.   She could very well have a home and her owner just let's her roam.   Where she gained the skills to manipulate people into giving her food and medical care is a good question, but she does seem bright.   She's already screamed for seconds so she is not shy either.

It's not important because she is not going to stop screaming for food and I am not going to cut her off and find we are wrong.   If this goes into winter I will have to do something of course.   Knowing she is fixed, has shots, and can charm people I should be able to place her.  I may have to paint her.  Black cats scare people so a few white spots will add appeal.

Enigma the cat wasn't required to get any kind of shots, but then again someone in CA told me that even though they hadn't had a rabies outbreak, nor distemper.. they still required a house bound cat to be vaccinated.. the only reason I asked, get this, and this was a few years ago, was because the cat in question got as huge lump which caused a septic infection, from being vaccinated and thus had to get more vetrinarian care.
My cat, probably could have had an extention on her life, if it was in fact kidney failure.. but it was so sudden, It was the year there was a question about contaminants in american cat food, so i didn't think it had anything going on here, since I got a fresh bag of luxury cat food for her… and right after, she fell suddenly ill..my cat never had the worms, but she got a case of ear mites which really bothered her. She never even once had a flea! She was thin and she was a real feisty little thing who took on cats 3 times her size and never backed down, but that was Enigma… and she too had the power of charm on her side.. being a feral cat, you would think she would have avoided people but came up as real social creature too. Oh but she was always so thin.. and small.. no matter how much I tried to feed her..
